I’m a Bay Area native with nearly 10 years experience as a creative professional. Although I’ve been artistic and creating my whole life, it wasn’t until I built my first print file (properly) that my career truly started. Out of college, I signed on with an ad/marketing agency where I learned what it meant to be a creative in the industry, and developed the foundation that would help guide the course of my career.
While working agency side, my focus was always on the visual. As long as it looked good, I was happy. It wasn’t until I went in-house that I was exposed to what a true development environment was like...and I loved it. There was a lot more depth to be explored and problems to be solved. Ultimately, when you put your heart and soul into a project that doesn’t only look good, but has smooth and intuitive interactions, is easy to navigate, is loved by both press and users, AND meets business goals, there’s nothing like it.
Designing and building an app, website or campaign, like most other things in life, is not an individual effort. Over the course of my career I’ve been lucky to be mentored by, worked with, and been a mentor to some amazing and talented individuals. I’ve always taken great pride in my work, but I’ve also been fortunate enough to be surrounded by people who pushed me even further along the way. I expect a lot from myself and, in-turn, expect the same from my team and those around me. Making something great isn’t easy, but the reward is well worth the effort.
